Recycling Metal.

Having fallen well and truly back into the swing of the new university year (no thanks to you Easter Break!) It wasn't long before I found myself low on funds and even lower on supplies.
Time to melt down some scrap and pour myself some ingots!
Turns out I had a lot more silver than I thought, always a pleasant surprise.
In other exciting news, after spending a few hours hammering my ingots down, I was finally struck by a lightbulb concept for a stop-motion music video for submission into a WHY? competition.

Stay tuned for more rushed, intermittent updates!

Speed made.

A 14 day "speed making" process wherein a "piece" or object is made each day for a period of two weeks to help generate concepts and formulate new working methods with different materials.

A range of pieces made from human hair, silver, bird wings, copper, bone/cat skull, synthetic hair and silk.

A few early presents amongst the pre-Christmas rush.

After what feels like forever, I've finally found myself with the time to sit down and look through images from this wonderfully executed shoot by Melbourne photographer Steph Doran.

Steph contacted me asking to use some of my jewellery and other assorted pieces as props after getting the 'good word' from another PSC photographer Michelle Austin! ;D
(thanks Michelle)

All in all I can say I'm thoroughly blown away with these images and they're not even the finals!
The gorgeous model Sally McBride, from Scene is also a recent National Finalist for Miss Universe Australia so watch this face!

Final pieces from recent times.

Using reclaimed steel found in historical settings these objects required little manipulation, only careful interpretation to become markers of their own past lives.

My Worried Shoes...

"I took my lucky break and I broke it in two,
put on my Worried Shoes,
My Worried Shoes.
My shoes took me so many miles and they never wore out,
My Worried Shoes,
My, My, My Worried Shoes.

I made a mistake that I never forgot,
Tied knots ion the laces of,
My Worried Shoes.

Now every step that I take is another mistake,
Still I march further and further away,
in My Worried Shoes,
In My Worried Shoes.

My shoes took me down a crooked path,
away from all welcome mats,
My, My, My Worried Shoes.
Then one day I looked all around
and saw the sun shining down,
Took off My Worried Shoes,
My, My, My Worried Shoes...."
